In conjunction with Annas' inaugural exhibition, object/item/material/me, Naming Rights is an afternoon of readings by multidisciplinary artists, writers, and thinkers. Building off of the exhibition’s exploration of how objects come to embody a moment/ a history/ an experience/ a meaning, participants will capture the relationships of naming, to being named, to titling, and to archiving.
Naming Rights also serves to build Annas’ infrastructure and better support the artists and patrons of the space. Instead of raising only dollars, we created a registry of items (screwdrivers, work gloves, a drill) for purchase and donation to Annas. In exchange for donations, we’ve got a label maker and we’ll name the object after its donor (i.e. The Senga Nengudi Hammer).
